Dr. Dudley Paul Fagerstrom was the first specialist certified by the state medical board to practice in San Jose. He had been a
practicing physician in San Jose for 36 years until his retirement in 1955. He graduated from Coe College and Northwestern University School of Medicine. He was a past professor at American University in Beiret, Lebanon and was an associate clinical professor of the University of California at Berkeley. He
was the recipient of the McCarthy Award for urological research published in the International Encyclopedia of Urology. He was a member of the San Jose YWCA
Board of Directors, Sons of the American Revolution and a 32nd
degree Mason. He belonged to numerous medical organizations.
